Martha Dodd has another passion besides art – horseback riding.

When Martha isn’t in her studio creating a painting, or on site doing a faux finish or mural, she is quite likely to be found on a horse. Horseback riding is, for Martha, much more than a hobby – it is a business as well. Martha rides and trains horses and riders alike, and competes at dressage shows around the state of Florida. Her own horse, 007, is a 10 year old Lusitano gelding, and is currently competing at third level in dressage. Martha Dodd is a USDF (United States Dressage Federation) Bronze medalist, and is half way to her Silver medal.

Natasha as Napoleon

Martha Dodd has found that spending the morning in the saddle, and the afternoon painting to be a wonderful way to stay physically fit, and mentally happy.  Many times, Martha will ride several times in a morning. Martha has chosen morning as her riding time because the weather greatly favors riding in the morning. Afternoons often are too hot, and rainstorms are more frequent in Florida.  Martha shows her passion for horses in many of the painting she creates, such as the portrait of Natasha.

Martha happily accepts commissions to paint horse portraits, as well as other animals, and of course, people.

Portraits make wonderful gifts, so consider giving one to someone you love! To contact Martha by email or phone, click here.
