a wall with a painting of foxhunters.

One of my followers bought a canvas print of the foxhunting painting, “Anticipation”. Jiselle Graves, of Edina, Minnesota, purchased a gallery wrapped canvas giclèe for her northern Minnesota cabin. Jiselle was kind enough to share some photos of my artwork hanging in her cabin. I love how the colors of the foxhunting scene coordinate with the colors of Jiselle’s beautiful wood paneling.

I painted this scene while my ankle was healing from a break that occurred in Switzerland. We were staying with my mother in law in Davos, and she graciously made room for me to paint while my leg was elevated. Being able to focus on the highly detailed painting helped keep me from focusing on my painful ankle!

The dogs, in particular, were a huge challenge. The way they crowded and jostled each other, as they formed a tight pack, was a confusing site to convey. I bought the linen canvas in Switzerland. I love this canvas – the weave is as smooth as it is tight, and I buy it whenever I’m there. Visually I had to break down the image into it’s smallest components. Modern technology allows me to zoom in to these challenging areas, so I can replicate them accurately.

I’m very happy that Jiselle found a place for my art in her home. This image, by the way, can be purchased on paper, canvas (unstretched or stretched), metal (ready to hang), or clear acrylic here: https://marthadoddartist.com/product/anticipation-foxhunting-art-print-by-martha-dodd/
